Dry Needling Therapy Treatment in Ottawa, ON
Offered by Tyler Milewski
Dry Needling is a term that covers the use of filiform needles (Acupuncture Needles) to release and improve areas of tension or pain in the body. At first glance, it appears very similar to acupuncture when it's performed. It is however done much differently. Dry needling is performed by lots of different types of professionals, including Dentists, Veterinarians, Athletic trainers, and more.
Dry Needling Therapy is safe, evidence-based, and quite widely used in today's world. However, your dry needling provider will need to assess you briefly before you can book a session since it is quite a specialized therapy. This way we can talk to you about whether needling is a good choice for your particular case, and help you understand what to expect.
It works well for the same reasons that massage therapy does: It improves circulation in deeper areas of the body and reduces stiffness using mechanical force. But instead of using pressure like with massage, the needles are used to very accurately break apart things like scars or tense muscle fibers, improving flexibility and reducing pain. Needling works nicely for areas where tension is quite extreme due to things like surgery, major injuries, or joint issues. It has the potential to provide a better solution for people with specific issues where the tension is too difficult to access or deal with using massage.
Dry needling is a useful tool in general and a magic bullet for some. It can help resolve all sorts of problems such as pains, headaches, scarring, and soreness. The needling allows your body to reset itself and have a better chance at healing.
